Amoss confirms Ria Antonia for Preakness

Trainer Tom Amoss confirmed early Monday that the filly Ria Antonia will race in the Preakness and will have Hall of Fame jockey Calvin Borel aboard.

“It’s time to roll the dice,” said Amoss, acknowledging the filly will be a long price. “California Chrome is absolutely the horse to beat, but beyond that, I think we’re in the mix.”

Also early at Churchill Downs, Bayern had his final prep for the Preakness when working five furlongs in 1:02.60 in the company of his older Bob Baffert-trained stablemate, Drill. Rosie Napravnik, who has the Preakness mount, was aboard Bayern. The colt is booked on the second equine charter that will fly Wednesday from Louisville, Ky., to Baltimore.

Horse has no business, here... losing a hall of fame jockey in favor of Borel who, in my opinion, was unjustly taken off ROC, doesn't make sense... Borel will be trying to stick it to ROC's trainer who has acted like a total butt since the Derby... I wish the best for the horse but question how a horse who had every chance in the Oaks simply did not show up could be considered here... seems nuts to me

Geez, Calvin. All he will do is whip her like he did in RA last race. He hit RA 13+ times from the eighth pole. I pray this little gal does not break down. If she does, Amoss and the owners are really in for a deserved rough go. Safe trip home Ria.

Roll the dice? Ethical trainers do not enter horses where they have no chance at success. As if it wasn't bad enough, Calvin Borel? So not only is she up against it, but this guy is going to really assist her in catastrophe by pushing her to the limit to get an aggressive rail spot. I hope she gets to the finish line.

This is a mistake and a travesty to the horse. She doesn't deserve to run and doesn't want to against these. An owner's ridiculous delusional assessment of his horse. Why does everyone just go along with everything ? Say NO to this idiot

Judging by the number of trainers gone through, some have said no.

You could easily see a shorter field version of last years KD. You could have a speed battle that leaves 4-5 horses staggering just to finish! Anybody could win this race as long as they entered.

Cannot knock Tom, we all know this call was made by her idiot owners who do not deserve a horse like this. Sad part about it is this years 3 yo colts are bums and she may get a slice.
