ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Amis Gizmo ($2.50) made virtually all the running during a decisive victory in the $125,000 Frost King Stakes on Wednesday night at Woodbine.

Amis Gizmo was pressed by Ruth Less Blue during a moderate opening quarter of 23.30 seconds in the seven-furlong sprint for Ontario-sired 2-year-olds. Ruth Less Blue poked his head in front on the turn through a half in 46.24 seconds, before Amis Gizmo regained command en route to a five-length score over Ultraflame, in a time of 1:22.69.

It was the third straight win on the card for Luis Contreras, who got a leg up from Josie Carroll on the Ivan Dalos-owned Amis Gizmo.

“I think he’s a really versatile horse,” said Carroll. “The track was playing to speed. We knew we had a horse that had enough talent to be there. I left it up to Luis. I said be where you need to be, and I think we needed to be close. When the horse broke as well as he did, and was comfortable on the lead, I wasn’t terribly concerned.”

Ruth Less Blue barely held on for third over Me More, while Tilbury Court trailed the compact field.

Amis Gizmo is now undefeated in three starts, all stakes.
