Amazing Tale takes Prairie Gold Lassie


ALTOONA, Iowa - Amazing Tale ($6.40) led virtually every step of the way in capturing the Prairie Gold Lassie by a comfortable 3 1/2 lengths Monday afternoon on the final day of the Iowa Festival of Racing at Prairie Meadows. Amazing Tale is trained by Anne Mitchell and was ridden by Alex Birzer. She covered the five furlongs in 57.71 seconds.

A.J. Bakes made a run at the winner entering the stretch, but could do no better than second. Rasierra finished third.

Amazing Tale is undefeated in two starts.

* With the scratch of pre-race favorite Preachin Man, Chicago-invader Possetothemax was made the 2-5 favorite in the Prairie Gold Juvenile. Possetothemax ($3) proved to be a worthy choice as he dominated the field winning by 2 1/4 lengths covering the five-furlongs in 57.33. Terry Thompson rode the winner for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Robbing the Bank finished second, with Alex's Tomcat finishing third in the field of six.

Possetothemax is now 2 for 3 lifetime.
