Amazing Results successfully shortens up

Amazing Results came from off the pace to win the $60,000 Black Gold Stakes, getting by General G and holding on to win by a length.

Trained by Richie Scherer and owned by Team Block, the 3-year-old Amazing Results ($8) entered the stretch in third, 2 1/2 lengths in back of odds-on favorite Excessive Heat, who just held on to finish third.

Julien Leparoux rode Amazing Results, who completed 5 1/2 furlongs on a turf course rated "good" in 1:06.12.

"The race set up really well for him," said Scherer. "He was a little closer to the pace than I expected him to be, and I wasn't sure if he was going to get up, but he got there and pulled away late."

It was the first sprint in five career starts for Amazing Results, and his first win since his maiden victory in November, but Scherer will consider having him go long again.

"I'm not sure that 5 1/2 furlongs is what he wants to do," said Scherer, "but he ran big today."
