Aly's Flyer needs best

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Aly's Flyer has her work cut out for her as she looks to win her third race in a row in Sunday's $40,000 Assiniboia Oaks for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles at Assiniboia Downs.

Trained by Jared Brown, Aly's Flyer won the Jack Hardy Stakes here two starts ago before taking the Assiniboia Oaks prep on Aug. 19. Both wins were front-end performances over speed-biased racetracks.

Aly's Flyer should have pace company Sunday from Oxford Joy. One of two sent out by trainer Bert Blake, Oxford Joy was an impressive 5 1/2-length winner over first-level allowance company in her last start Aug. 14.

J D's Deelites, also trained by Blake, won her maiden here by 6 1/2 lengths on July 29. A daughter of Afternoon Deelites, J D's Deelites finished second behind Oxford Joy in the aforementioned allowance race in her last start.

Vicar's Daughter, third at Arlington Park against conditioned claimers in her most recent race, makes her first start locally and first for trainer Carl Anderson.

Wautega Light, who finished third, beaten a length by Aly's Flyer in the Aug. 19 prep, will run on Lasix for the first time in the Oaks.

On Wild Ground, fourth in the prep, rounds out the field.

Also on Sunday, Tiger Jet should be tough to beat in the restricted $25,000 North Dakota Futurity for 2-year-olds at six furlongs. Tiger Jet finished fourth against maiden special weight company at Prairie Meadows in his most recent race, a head behind All About Us, who returned to win his next start.

J Dam Strike, the only winner in the field, finished fourth in the restricted North Dakota Stallion Stakes in her last start on Aug. 21.

The field also includes Sonny'sfirststrike, Dakota Long Legs, Should've Beenmine, and Liberty Reigns.
