OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Jockey Junior Alvarado rode North Slope to victory in Sunday’s $100,000 Evening Attire Stakes, part of a four-win afternoon and a seven-win weekend for him at Aqueduct.

Alvarado went 4 for 5 on Sunday’s card, also winning aboard Net Gain, Igotthediscoinme, and Bass River Road.

On Saturday, Alvarado went 3 for 7, including a victory in the Busher Stakes aboard Condo Commando.

The hot streak helped Alvarado move into fifth in the jockeys’ standings with 27 victories. He began riding Dec. 26 after missing six weeks due to a fractured vertebra suffered in a fall after the wire of a Nov. 12 race.

Meanwhile, Manny Franco, the third-leading rider at the meet with 45 wins, on Feb. 17 began serving a 15-day careless-riding suspension dating back to an incident Dec. 5. Franco dropped an appeal that he initially made and will be out through March 3.
