Alsono, with Ry Eikleberry aboard, covers five furlongs in 55.72 seconds in the KLAQ Handicap.

Alsono set a track record Saturday at Sunland Park when he wired the field in the $65,000 KLAQ Handicap. He covered five furlongs on a fast track in 55.72 seconds, lowering the mark of 55.86 seconds Fearless Anthony set on March 4, 2008.

Forin Sea finished second in the KLAQ, a half-length behind Alsono. It was another length back in third to Redneck Humor.

Alsono ($21.60) set fractions of 21.56 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.08 for the half-mile Saturday, the second day of the meet at Sunland.

"We didn't plan on being on the lead, but we got the jump on them early and it paid off big time," said winning rider Ry Eikleberry. "Alsono is awesome. He is the most game racehorse I have ever ridden."
