Alpha Heat captures Zadracarta

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Uncoupled Stronach Stable runners Alpha Heat and Freedom Come ran one-two in Monday's $107,000 Zadracarta Stakes, a six-furlong turf dash for fillies and mares at Woodbine.

Jim McAleney rode Alpha Heat, who rallied wide after saving ground on the turn to win by a half-length, in a final time of 1:11.41 seconds. Favored Freedom Come set moderate fractions, over turf rated as good, and held second by a neck over Mysterious Affair. Heyahohowdy was locked in along the rail for the entire stretch run, and finished a close fourth in the seven-horse field.

"We were in a nice spot on the turn, and my filly finished very strong," said McAleney.

Alpha Heat ($7.80) earned $64,200 in winning her first stakes and her third straight race for trainer Reade Baker.
