Allred heads Hall inductees

Los Alamitos Race Course owner Dr. Ed Allred, a perennial leading breeder and owner, will lead the class of 2008 into the Racehorse Hall of Fame at Ruidoso Downs.

Induction ceremonies will be June 28 at Ruidoso Downs.

Joining Allred are trainer Dwayne "Sleepy" Gilbreath, jockey Kenny Hart, and champion Corona Chick.

Gilbreath, a two-time winner of the All American Futurity, has 17 Grade 1 stakes wins at Ruidoso Downs. He won the grade 1 Rainbow Derby six times during one 10-year stretch.

Hart, now a steward in New Mexico, was an important stakes jockey throughout Quarter Horse racing. His Grade 1 stakes wins include the Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos and the All American Derby at Ruidoso Downs. He was the first-call rider for Blane Schvaneveldt's 12-time national champion stable and rode the Schvaneveldt-trained champion Town Policy to his most important stakes wins. Hart joins Schvaneveldt and Town Policy in the Racehorse Hall of Fame.

Corona Chick was a champion at 2 and 3 and was named broodmare of the year at 8. She has produced an All American Futurity winner, Corona Cash, and a leading sire, Corona Cartel. She has produced four stakes winners from 10 starters.
