Allourwishes preps for Parkland

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan - Allourwishes, a stakes winner here last year, headlines a field of five in Friday's $6,500 James Leakos Sophomore for Saskatchewan-bred 3-year-old fillies. The one-mile race is a prelude to the $10,000 Parkland Heritage at 1 1/16 miles here Aug. 21.

Allourwishes was the 2003 champion 2-year-old filly in the province based on her eight-length victory in the Woodland Heritage and her two other stakes placings, including a half-length loss to the boys in the Prairie Lily Sale Stake.

But 2004 has been a different story for Allourwishes, as she has run just three times with her best result a second-place finish here in the Captain Stanley Harrison Handicap. Her other two starts were in Alberta, where Allourwishes beat just one horse in a $15,000 claimer and ran last on July 25 against $10,000 claimers.

D J's Runaway was fourth in the Harrison, six lengths behind Allourwishes. She has finished fourth in all three of her local starts this year.

Trainer Fern Zdunick sends out three uncoupled stablemates, and all three have won races this year going seven furlongs. Rock n' Romance and Alongcameachance each has two wins this year, a maiden race and an allowance race. Lucky in the Lead, fifth in the Harrison, is Zdunick's third starter.
