Alliford Bay remains perfect by taking Seattle Stakes

Under confident handling by Irving Orozco, Alliford Bay remained undefeated with a 3 1/4-length win over Risque’s Legacy in the $50,000 Seattle Stakes at Emerald Downs on Sunday. She paid $3.40 as the heavy favorite in the six-furlong dash for 3-year-old fillies.

Risque’s Legacy broke on top but it didn’t take long for Alliford Bay to catch up and they dueled through honest interior fractions of 21.85 and 44.46 seconds. Alliford Bay took control of the race in midstretch and drew off late to score a decisive victory. Risque’s Legacy finished 5 3/4 lengths clear of Blazinbeauty, who rallied late.

The final time over the fast track was 1:08.92.

“She wanted to drag me to the lead so I wasn’t going to stop her from letting her do her thing,” said Orozco. “She’s one of the best horses I’ve ridden this year and she’s only going to get better. “

Owner Peter Redekop bought her for $150,000 out of the Ocala spring sale of 2-year-olds in training last year.

She is trained by Blaine Wright.

“Peter gave me the choice to buy one horse last year and she’s the one I picked out,” said Wright. “He was also great about letting me take my time with her.”

In her only other start, Alliford Ray, a daughter of City Zip, was an impressive winner of a maiden special weight race at Golden Gate Fields on March 25.
