AMANDATUDE has an annoying tendency to finish second, but she proved that she belongs at this level with Grade 2 placings last year behind Adieu and India in the Delaware Oaks and Cotillion Breeders' Cup Handicap respectively. She was flying at the end of a sprint stakes race at Delaware last time out despite racing over a speed-favoring track, and she should do better in her second start of the form cycle while stretching out to a more comfortable distance. Amandatude successfully stretched out in her second off the layoff last year in the Pollys Jet Stakes at Delaware, and can repeat that pattern at a price on Friday.
FIERY PURSUIT was hustled to the front by Calvin Borel in the Louisville Breeders' Cup two weeks ago, and she was extremely game fending off all challengers in the stretch. If SUGAR SHAKE scratches as expected, then Fiery Pursuit should be very prominent during the backstretch run once again. TAKE A CHECK may be a live longshot. She'll make the third start of the form cycle after chasing tepid fractions over this surface last time out. The pace will probably be more honest in this spot, and she ran well enough to finish third in the Delaware Handicap last July. She has a puncher's chance in the stretch.
SUGAR SHAKE really turned it up a notch when shipped to Southern California for Bobby Frankel. She'll show dangerous speed if she does start here. KETTLEONEUP took advantage of a hot pace to run down the speeds in the Sixty Sails Handicap. She's a very consistent filly, and should be charging late. SWAP FLIPAROO tired after a premature mid move in her only previous two-turn effort to date in the Grade 2 Rampart Handicap, and it's possible that she's better contesting sprint and mile races around one bend.
