All Saint hadn’t hit the board in his first three grass starts, but that apparently didn’t matter to the rejuvenated 5-year-old as he dominated Saturday’s $35,000 Cotton Fitzsimmons Mile on the turf, leading home a parade of longshots at Turf Paradise.

All Saint, owned by Pascual Gamez and trained by Wilton Whitehouse, was coming off a big front-running win in the Hank Mills Sr. Handicap at a mile on the main track here Dec. 18 and this was basically a repeat of that.

Under Mike Iammarino All Saint blasted out to a 5 1/2-length lead down the backstretch, saw his margin decrease going to the far turn, but kept on smartly to stay out of reach all the way to line, winning by 2 1/4 lengths. One Call sat third early and ran on for second, while Boundless Cat finished third in the field of 11. All three came out of the Hank Mills Sr. having run first, third and sixth, respectively.

All Saint ($25.20) ran the distance in 1:34.86. The winner’s share of $21,000 pushes his career bankroll to $205,826 from 5 wins in 22 starts.
While the winner was 11-1, the next three finishers were 18-1, 14-1, and Summertime Sal in fourth was 41-1, leading to just one $1 superfecta ticket worth $24,005.

Carnera, the 5-2 favorite, ran fifth with second choice Green Secret finishing ninth.
