Flameaway and Catholic Boy, the top two finishers Saturday in the Grade 3 Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs, both emerged in good order as their connections started looking farther down the trail to the 144th Kentucky Derby.

Consolida ($17.40) was last early as she made her U.S. racing debut in the $51,625 California Oaks at Golden Gate Fields, but the British-bred filly proved her superiority in the stretch as she rallied after getting clear to score an easy victory.
Last year Chief Cicatriz dominated the $75,000 Phoenix Gold Cup at Turf Paradise as a 4-year-old. The 5-year-old gelded son of Munnings had an even easier time of it this year, dominating the marquee event of the Turf Paradise meet.
K P Wildcat won her fifth consecutive race on Saturday when she darted to a length win over Kell Paso in the $75,000 El Diario Handicap at Sunland Park. A race earlier, Concord Fast accounted for the Budweiser Handicap.
Red Ruby picked up 10 points for the Kentucky Oaks on Saturday with a professional-looking win in the $125,000 Martha Washington at Oaklawn Park. She stalked the pace and went on to a 2 1/2-length victory over Sassy Sienna.
