As of Friday, 30 of the graded stakes races leading up to the Kentucky Derby listed on Daily Racing Form’s 2012 Road to the Kentucky Derby had been run. Those 30 were won by 26 different 3-year-olds.

Even after losing last weekend in the Florida Derby, Union Rags is the 7-2 favorite in the future book for the Kentucky Derby at Wynn Las Vegas.
It is not necessary to be in the Hall of Fame, or at least well on your way, for a trainer or jockey to win the Santa Anita Derby. It only seems like it.
