All Giving relishes the mud in The Very One

All Giving improved his record on off tracks, getting a perfect inside trip under Eric Rodriguez and splashing to a five-length victory in the $67,750 The Very One Stakes.

Owned by the Concepts Unlimited Stable and Catherine Smith and trained by Flint Stites, All Giving figured as a longshot in the five-furlong The Very One had remained on turf – but it didn’t, because of soggy conditions. Bet down to second favoritism at 5-2, the 4-year-old filly laid several lengths the pace from a favorable inside spot, then surged past front-running Cat on a Cloud at the top of the stretch.

All Giving returned $7.60 after finishing in 57.46 seconds over a muddy track.

Cat on a Cloud, ridden by Robby Albarado, held second, another 1 1/4 lengths before Smart and Fancy, the 11-10 favorite in a field scratched down to seven.

All Giving, a Maryland-bred by Allen’s Prospect, now has won 8 of 18 career starts, but most relevant to the Friday results, she is now 4 for 4 on off tracks.
