All American tops Golden Gate stakes schedule

ALBANY, Calif. – Seven stakes races, highlighted by the Grade 3 All American, will be offered at Golden Gate Fields’ fall meet beginning Oct. 20.

The $100,000 All American is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 26. The race for 3-year-olds and up is carded at 1 1/8 miles.

The seven stakes, worth $475,000, include four stakes for 2-year-olds.

Two-year-old fillies will run for $50,000 in the six-furlong Golden Gate Debutante on Nov. 6. On Dec. 4, the $75,000 Corte Madera will be run at one mile.

The $50,000 Golden Nugget will be run at six furlongs for 2-year-olds on Nov. 13. The $75,000 Gold Rush at one mile will be Dec. 11.

“We’re concentrating on 2-year-olds,” Golden Gate Fields general manager Robert Hartman said.

“We’ve developed a series the will lead up to the California Oaks for fillies on New Year’s Day and the Grade 3 El Camino Real Derby on Feb. 12.”

The Oaks and the El Camino are races that are part of the $2.2 million Black-Eyed Susan and $5.5 million Preakness bonus programs that are being initiated by MI Developments this year.

The fall stakes schedule also includes the return of the Oakland, a six-furlong sprint worth $50,000 on Oct. 23.

The lone turf stakes is scheduled on Dec. 18, with the 1 1/8-mile Pacific Heights for fillies and mares worth $75,000.
