MASSEUSE draws widest, but she enters the All Along in raging form. After missing almost a year of action due to injury, Masseuse returned to the races in the Hillsborough Handicap at Tampa Bay Downs, and finished just behind the streaking My Typhoon. In her most recent start, Masseuse was hung out three wide every step of the way off a glacial pace only to gamely prevail in the stretch. She just missed in the 2005 Virginia Oaks over this surface (again beaten by My Typhoon), and has the tactical speed to find a decent forward position going into the first turn.
HUMORISTIC won twice at Colonial Downs in 2004, and was the All Along runner-up the following year. It's been a while since she's reached the winner's enclosure, however, and she readily gave way in the Gallorette last time out at Pimlico. There doesn't seem to be a lot of pace in this spot, and perhaps Humoristic will attempt to steal this on the front end at a price. She has the back class to contend if she brings her 'A' game to the table. GRIGORIEVA didn't have an easy trip when finishing ahead of Humoristic in the Gallorette. She was a bit keen while racing at the back of the pack, then was in and among horses for the majority of the way. She altered course sharply in mid-stretch yet still was charging hard for third money. A clear trip coupled with an honest pace up front may propel her to a win here.
MAY NIGHT showed her affinity for this surface with a nose loss in the Virginia Oaks last July. She's an admirably conistent filly, but often settles for minor trophies. BALLET PACIFICA was an impressive winner over a big field in her 2007 debut. A lightly-raced daughter of Minardi, Ballet Pacifica should appreciate the extra distance, and it's possible that she's yet to produce her best peformance.
