Aldrin, a half-brother to perennial leading sire Tapit, has been retired from racing and will debut at stud in 2018 at O’Sullivan Farm in Charles Town, W.V.

The 5-year-old Malibu Moon ridgling won one of 14 starts for earnings of $79,839. He initially raced for the partnership of Mt. Brilliant Farm, Gainesway Stable, and Robert LaPenta, and was trained by Chad Brown, then was sold privately to Altamira Racing Stable and moved to the barn of Peter Miller.

Aldrin is best known for topping the 2014 Keeneland April 2-year-olds in training sale, where he sold to Mt. Brilliant, Gainesway, and LaPenta for $1 million.

Bred in Kentucky by Barouche Stud (Ireland) Ltd., Aldrin is out of the stakes-winning Unbridled mare Tap Your Heels, whose four winners from seven runners are highlighted by the Grade 1 winner and dominant commercial sire Tapit, as well as multiple stakes-placed runner and stakes producer Overandabeauty.

Aldrin was one of just two colts from 12 foals produced by Tap Your Heels, who died in 2016 due to foaling complications.

Aldrin is from the family of champion sprinter Rubiano, champion 3-year-old Summer Bird, Grade 2 winners Madefromlucky, Dubelo, and In Tune, and Grade 3 winner Glitterman.
