PLEASANTON, Calif. - Getting a ground-saving stalking trip, Secret Corsage ($8) wore down pacesetting Platinum Princess in the stretch to win the $51,000 Alameda County Fillies and Mares Handicap at the Alameda County Fair on Monday.

Secret Corsage's two-length victory in the 1 1/16 mile race gave jockey Chad Schvaneveldt a sweep of the weekend stakes races. He also won the Juan Gonzalez on Saturday with Hystericalady and the Everett Nevin Alameda County Futurity aboard Don Jaun Con on Sunday.

Platinum Princess controlled the pace with four rivals strung across the track behind her in close pursuit. Secret Corsage was inside the four.

"Nobody was laying on the leader, and I was concerned about that," Schvaneveldt said. "Mine was nice and relaxed when she was covered up but would throw her head if I tried to push on her."

When Platinum Princess opened into the second turn, Schvaneveldt moved Secret Corsage out, and she rallied steadily to win the race in 1:42.11 over Platinum Princess. Lucky Sabre was third another three lengths back.

Secret Corsage improved her record to five victories in 19 starts. She earned $27,600 to boost her career earnings to $180,230.
