ARCADIA, Ca. – Aktabantay is out of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf after suffering a foot injury, trainer Hugo Palmer announced.

“Having moved beautifully this morning, Aktabantay was found to have a sore foot back at the barn. He has been scratched,” Palmer posted on his Twitter feed late Thursday morning.

The Juvenile Turf overfilled, and Aktabantay's defection allows another European horse, Faithful Creek, to draw into the Juvenile Turf. Faithful Creek will break from post 14, while the five runners drawn outside Aktabantay move in one stall.

Aktabantay, a Group 3 winner overseas, was 12-1 on the morning line for the Juvenile Turf. Palmer said on Twitter that the colt would be “absolutely fine in the long term” and would be pointed to the English 2000 Guineas next year.
