Afleet Aussie honored in Delaware

Afleet Aussie, a colt trained and part-owned by Tim Ritchey, has been honored as the top Delaware-certified horse for 2008 by the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association.

As a 2-year-old, Afleet Aussie registered 2 wins and 2 seconds in 4 starts, including a victory in the $75,000 First State Dash on turf.

Porter Racing Stable led all owners with 14 wins, 16 seconds, and 20 thirds for a total of $67,145 in Delaware-certified bonuses. Two Porter horses, Affirmed Precision and Proud McKee, were the leaders among 2-year-old fillies and 3-year-olds.

Win More Stable had the leading 3-year-old filly in Smartini and the leading older male in Dempsey.

Hungarian Boatbaby, a 5-year-old mare owned by the Elkstone Group, was the top older filly or mare. She won a $75,000 restricted stakes and placed third in the Grade 3 Endine at Delaware Park.
