Adreamisborn remains perfect on dirt in Longacres Mile

AUBURN, Wash. - Adreamisborn came from 13 lengths back under Russell Baze to win Sunday's 69th edition of the Grade 3, $250,000 by a length over Demon Warlock, who got second by 5 3/4 lengths over Mr. Makah.

Adreamisborn, a 5-year-old son of Kris S. who is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer for Franks Farm, posted a clocking of 1:34.80 over a sloppy track. Adreamisborn raced in 11th position early, but moved strongly around the second turn to strike the front in the upper stretch and led by two lengths with a furlong to run. Demon Warlock offered a strong late bid along the rail, but Adreamisborn dug in to preserve the win.

It was the 5th victory from 16 starts for Adreamisborn, who was coming off a victory in the 1 1/16 mile Alamedan Handicap at Pleasanton. He is a perfect three for three when racing on dirt.

"I think he can run with just about anybody when he is on his game," said Hollendorfer. "I'm looking to run him in a pretty big race next time, probably back east, and then we'll see where we stand."

Adreamisborn paid $10.80 to win as the second choice in a field of 12. The 7-2 favorite, Poker Brad, checked in eighth with no apparent excuse.

The Longacres Mile Day handle of $2,585,533 was down from last year's Mile Day handle of $3,037,581 owing to inclement weather, but it still ranked as the third-highest in the track's nine-year history.
