Adios Charlie colt tops second OBS March breeze session

Following a day when a staggering 14 juveniles turned in one-furlong times of 9 4/5 seconds during the first session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. March 2-year-olds in training sale, Thursday’s penultimate session saw a single colt break through with a time of 9 3/5 seconds.

The colt, by young Florida sire Adios Charlie, covered the distance over the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface.

Bred in Florida by Ciaran and Amy Dunne, the colt is out of the unraced Valid Wager mare The Church Lady, whose seven foals to race are all winners, including stakes winners Swift Lady and Sheyenne Girl, as well as stakes-placed Codio. He is from the family of stakes winners First Class Fever, Charlie You Know, and Rockabye Joshua.

Dunne’s Wavertree Stables consigns the colt, as agent.

A filly from the first crop of The Factor assumed the lead among horses breezing two furlongs, stopping the clock in 20 2/5 seconds.

The gray or roan filly, bred in Florida by Gilbert Campbell, is the third foal out of the stakes-winning City Zip mare Silver Cub, whose first two foals have raced. Her page includes Grade 2 winners Limit Out and Dixie Luck, as well as stakes winners Aspenglow and Silver Heart.

Eddie Woods consigns the filly as agent, having purchased her for $160,000 at last year’s OBS August yearling sale through his Quarter Pole Enterprises.

The breeze show concludes Friday, with a final session beginning at 8 a.m. Eastern. The sale will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, starting at 11 a.m. each day. Watch live coverage of the breeze show and sale and get real-time analysis with DRF Breeding Live.
