Addeybb appears to be emerging as one of the better milers in Europe after winning his stakes debut, the Group 2 Sandown Mile at Sandown Park, by 2 3/4 lengths Friday. Four-year-old Addeybb has been brought along conservatively by trainer William Haggas, but after an easy win over Stormy Antarctic on Friday he will get a shot at the Group 1 level in the J.T. Lockine Stakes at Newbury. And for good reason. Addeybb, a son of Pivotal and the Kingmambo mare Bush Cat, now has won five of seven starts, and the European mile division does not appear overflowing with historic talent this year. Earlier on the Sandown program Sevenna Star, a candidate for the Epsom Derby in June, won the Group 3 Classic Trial by a nose over Ispolini. John Gosden trains Sevenna Star, a son of Redoute’s Choice and the Galileo mare Sevenna, and suggested after the race that the colt could start next in the Dante Stakes.
