The impact of account wagering on racing's economics will be the primary topic of discussion at this year's Round Table Conference on Matters Pertaining to Racing on Aug. 19 in Saratoga Springs, the conference's organizer, the Jockey Club, announced Thursday.

Three speakers will address the topic: Robert Evans, the chief executive of Churchill Downs Inc.; David Nathanson, the chief executive of Television Games Network; and Joseph Santanna, the president of the National Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association.

Also at the Round Table, Ed Bowen, president of the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, and Dr. Rick Arthur, the equine medical director of the California Horse Racing Board, will provide a report on projects begun since the Jockey Club sponsored the first Welfare and Safety of the Racehorse Summit last October.

Roy Jackson, the co-owner of 2006 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro, who was euthanized earlier this year, will give a presentation on the importance of equine research.
