Acclamation, honored last month as the nation’s outstanding older male of 2011, took home another prize for that campaign on Monday – California-bred Horse of the Year. The announcement was made at the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association’s annual dinner in Pasadena. Owned by a partnership led by Bud Johnston, Acclamation was also named champion California-bred older male and turf horse, titles that were announced last month. In 2011, Acclamation won 5 of 7 starts and $1,126,000. He won three Grade 1 races - the Charles Whittingham Handicap, Eddie Read Stakes and Pacific Classic. Acclamation was finalist for California-bred Horse of the Year along with Amazombie, the Eclipse Award winner as the nation’s outstanding sprinter of 2011, and Ultra Blend, a mare who was a Grade 1 winner in 2011.
