ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Abounding Truth parlayed an ideal stalking trip into a narrow victory Sunday at Woodbine in the $128,200 , a six-furlong sprint for fillies and mares. Abounding Truth, a Southern California import trained by Josie Carroll, raced behind a five-horse speed duel on the backstretch under jockey Patrick Husbands. High Button Shoes emerged with the lead after pressing fractions of :22.17 and :45.04 seconds, but was overtaken in the final strides by Abounding Truth, who won by a neck in a final time of 1:10.55. Kentucky shipper Listen was another length back in third in the 13-horse field. Gold Strike, the morning line favorite, and Bellini Sunrise were scratched. "I wanted to get a nice position, because speed has been holding today," said Husbands. "I bided my time, and got lucky." Abounding Truth returned $6.40 as the favorite in the Grade 3 event, earning $75,000 for owner Douglas Kent Racing.
