At 9, Rudirudy hasn't forgotten how to win

Rudirudy came into Saturday's Wolf Hill Stakes at Monmouth Park with 18 losses in a row, a streak dating back nearly two years. But at the age of 9, he's not ready to retire.

Racing just five days after a lackluster sixth-place finish at Philadelphia Park, Rudirudy ($23.40) rallied from far back in the pack to win the five-furlong, $60,000 Wolf Hill by 1 1/4 lengths over Manofglory. Blakelock was a head farther back in third.

Rudirudy's time for five furlongs over a turf course rated good was 56.04 seconds. It was his first victory since July 2002, also at Monmouth.

Coming back on short rest is nothing new for Rudirudy. In 2001, he won a stakes at Monmouth and finished second two days later in another sprint stakes at Delaware.

* Whoop's Ah Daisy ($10.40), making her first start since October, won the $60,000 Open Mind Handicap for New Jersey-bred fillies and mares. The 5-year-old Whoop's a Daisy is now 7 for 17 lifetime and 6 for 10 at Monmouth.
