$305K for Valid Expectations colt

LEXINGTON, Ky. - As of 6 p.m. Monday, a $305,000 Valid Expectations colt was the opening session leader at Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's five-day yearling sale in Ocala, Fla.

Selling at the one-day select session that opens the auction, the Valid Expectations colt went to Padua Stables. The colt is out of the Timeless Native mare Dame's Rocket and was sold by Kelli Mitchell, agent.

As of 6 p.m., the top filly at the selected session was a $230,000 daughter of Hennessy and the Spanish Drums mare Spanish Dior. Summerfield, agent, sold the filly.

* Led by a $905,003 Sadler's Wells colt bought by agent Demi O'Byrne, the first three days of Deauville's five-day selected yearling sale are on an upward trend. Through Monday evening, the French sale conducted by Agence Francaise had a three-day average price of $931,464, up 19 percent from last year. Gross revenue was $28,790,914 for 222 yearlings sold, up 8 percent from last year, when a larger catalog sold 244 lots.
