$240K for Indian Charlie colt

Fasig-Tipton's Texas 2-year-old sale got off to an unsteady start Tuesday with numerous early buy-backs. But the one-day auction at Lone Star Park also saw some strength at the upper level: A $240,000 Indian Charlie colt was the sale-leader at 4 p.m. An $85,000 Smoke Glacken colt and a $72,000 Doneraile Court colt also brought some cheer to the sale's opening hours.

Ted Keffer bought the leading lot, who is out of the Halo mare Shahalo. The colt was among the fastest workers at the sale's under-tack show on March 23, when he went a quarter-mile in 21.40 seconds. Safari Bloodstock, agent, consigned the colt, who sold as Hip No. 129.

DWF Inc. purchased the Smoke Glacken colt, Hip No. 36, from Parrish Farms. The colt is out of Lona's Love, by Zonic.

The Doneraile Court colt, Hip No. 93, went to Stony Oak Farm LLC. LOR Stables sold the colt, the first foal for the winning Proper Reality mare Pretty n' Proud.

Among the early buybacks was Hip No. 5, a colt by Valid Expectations out of Iron's Advance, by Iron Constitution. He went back to his seller, Asmussen Horse Center, agent, on a $75,000 final bid.
