This stakes program is certainly one of the most exciting ever planned and represents a golden opportunity for North American interests and thoroughbred fans, in particular, to witness leadership in action.
The respect due the organizers and leading horsemen in the world, led by the Arab contribution of the Mahktoums, Godolphin Stables and Meydan, plus Japanese and European success stories requires more discussion and exposure to the North American industry and racing fan. The will to reach a common level of understanding through dialogue, communication, and information exchange on behalf of the North American interests is lacking.
The evidence of decades long decline in the North American breeding and racing product offers little from which others can learn, unfortunately.
Unresolved issues in North American racing, such as: increased medication problems and breakdowns, steadily decreasing Beyer performance figures, shorter racing careers, an aging, reduced fan base and financial sustainability are the norm.
As one who was fortunate enough to attend a running the Dubai World Cup, I can attest to the thrill and excitement of being there and witnessing international racing at its best.
