2012 Kentucky Derby: Rousing Sermon works on light morning at Churchill Downs
By Mike Welsch

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Rousing Sermon worked five furlongs in 1:00.13 at Churchill Downs on Tuesday, the only potential Kentucky Derby starter to work over a racetrack upgraded from good to fast following the renovation break.
Rousing Sermon, who finished a fast-closing third in the Louisiana Derby, posted splits of 12.52, 24.92 and 36.45, completing his final quarter-mile in 23.68 before galloping out six furlongs in 1:14.23.
Union Rags went to the racetrack before dawn, jogging three-quarters of a mile and then galloping a mile under regular exercise rider Peter Brette while wearing a tongue tie for the first time on Tuesday.
Alpha made his first local appearance after arriving on the grounds from New York the previous afternoon. He turned in a routine gallop after the break.

This horse has another 1.5 furlongs to show his turn of foot going 10 panels....the 8.5 furlongs and his Beyers in the 80s is a joke....He gets 102-106 going 10 panels and be in the money at the derby

Like this horse in my tri and super bets. If pace is hot like it should be then he has a chance to be in the money but no to win because he will have to come from way back but has a very good turn of foot and if he doesnt get traffic trouble he should be in the money.

I love Jerry Hollendorfer but this aint the Oaks and hes not at Golden Gate. I dont believe this horse has any shot for the win but could possibly round out some vertical wagers. His best Derby horse was Chocolate Candy and he finished 5th. Good luck Jerry but that elusive Derby win will have to wait at least 1 more year.

MOST HAPPY FELLA, reclaimed from last, drops to easier spot after setting pressured pace vs. odds-on Pinball; both wins last year came on this track. ARTIE LUVSTO PARTY has a knack for surprises, with three lifetime wins coming at 33-1, 17-1 & 11-1 (two on this track); entrymate EQUIVOCATION gets major rider switch first off a claim. PURE ATTITUDE among top 3 in wins & earnings and snug fit to date clause.
