2012 Kentucky Derby: I'll Have Another keys $675,000 pick six, other big payoffs
By Marcus Hersh

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – I’ll Have Another’s exciting Kentucky Derby victory sent his connections into a fit of ecstasy. The chestnut colt’s 15-1 win also made some lucky bettors extremely happy.
The $2 all-stakes pick six that began with race 6 returned $675,148. The winners in the sequence were Great Attack ($10.80), Shackleford ($5.60), Hungry Island ($13.80), Groupie Doll ($8.20), Little Mike ($26.40), and I’ll Have Another ($32.60).
I’ll Have Another’s victory capped a pick four that paid $7,781.10 for a 50-cent bet; a 50-cent pick three that paid $824.35; and a 50-cent pick five that paid $23,923.80. The $1 double combining Turf Classic winner Little Mike and I’ll Have Another was worth $408.80.
The Derby superfecta paid its typical heart-stopping amount. Bettors that successfully combined I’ll Have Another, Bodemeister, Dullahan, and Went the Day Well were rewarded with a $1 payoff of $48,046.40. The 50-cent trifecta came back $766.40. The $2 I’ll Have Another-Bodemeister exacta paid $306.60.

Best Bets
BIG JOHN B takes a short drop off the claim and layoff, which could be viewed as a negative, but he has some decent works for this return and he has a decent-sized Beyer edge against this group; tactical speed should help him work out a favorable trip. SKIFFS BREWMEISTER merits respect off that last win and figure, his best yet; dangerous if he's able to take another step forward. BRODY BOY finished off the board in his turf debut but he earned a decent figure despite running 7th there, and he did endure a fairly tough trip; most recent workout at Parx indicates he retains his form.
