I'll Have Another was the HOY!...Come on..He won the Santa Anita Derby...Kentucky Derby and the Preakness before he was retired. Jockey, trainer and jockey brought a lot of class and needed attention to the sport.

I'll Have Another might have won the HoY if he had had one more in him..alas... he did NOT...and Fort Larned in the BC Classic was like a fort, he was BIG and imposing and said, "YOU, GET out of here". But Wise Dan did so much, he is wise and a real dandy. His very appearance says, "YOU get OUT OF HERE"!

In my humble opinion, winning 2 out of 3 Triple Crown races should guarantee a "Horse of the Year" win for I'll Have Another. But Doug O'Neill didn't even get a nomination for Trainer, so nothing surprises me....... I hope IHA wins but, sadly, I don't think he will.

I wish there was little bit more written about , talk, or profile, on the Handicapper of the Year , Michael Beychok. ( though you do have a nice picture of him) he did win a contest sponsered by DRF, and a million bucks last year. Would have been nice to know what he's been up to during his year as Champion. ..and if there was a recap -profile written recently about Michael and I missed it , my apologies. SR Vegas

It'll be interesting to see how the 'Pro Vote' stacks up against the Fan Vote.

It's hard to beleive that Royal Delta didn't get a nod for Horse of the Year as she did everything ask of her and including winning back to back Ladies Classics.I think that she could have won a race over any of the finalist? I can't beleive that Wise Dan who had to run a mile race to win is even considered? It makes you wonder how things like this happen.

Look for her to win her third next year Jock. One thing is sure... They are not gonna get her beat up!

It's hard to believe that Doug O'Neill was not, at the least, one of the finalists for the trainers award. He did a masterful job of preparing I'll Have Another for his run through the Santa Anita meet and the Triple Crown along with winning 4 races with a $1m purse and I don't know of any other trainer that could have handled the media with the same class or would have been a better representative for racing than Mr. O'Neill.
