The Breeders Crown, Harness Racing’s version of the Breeders’ Cup, will be contested on Saturday, October 29 at Woodbine Racetrack. Each of the 12 divisional championship races feature everything a bettor could hope for: large fields, the best horses and drivers; guaranteed pools; competitive races.

Two 11-horse fields, eight 10-horse fields, one 9-horse field, and one 7-horse field come together on Saturday to entice horse players of all walks of life. Those fields are composed of the best horses the harness game has to offer. All of the divisional leaders from each age group, sex and gait (trot and pace) are gathered together and piloted by the sports leading drivers (John Campbell, Tim Tetrick, Brian Sears, George Brennan) to form a stellar betting program. Any gambler would be hard pressed to find a more palatable wagering opportunity.

The featured performer is Horse of the Year favorite San Pail. The 7-year-old gelding with over $2.6 million in career earnings faces six others, including two foreign newcomers (Commander Crowe & Rapide Lebel) in the $600,000 Open Trot.

From a wagering standpoint, the most anticipated race could be the $500,000 3-year-old Colt and Gelding Pace. Meadowlands Pace winner Roll With Joe will hook up with Adios winner Alsace Hanover, Cane Pace winner BetterthanCheddar, Little Brown Jug winner Big Bad John, North America Cup winner Up The Credit, and sharp late season players Hugadragon and Westwardho Hanover. Practically any of the 10 combatants could take home the purse.

Value hunters will have a ball wagering on the 12-race Breeders Crown program. Only a few of the dozen events figure to present a short-priced favorite. In fact, some of the races could offer favorites in the 3-1 or higher range.

Regardless of what you enjoy wagering on, Woodbine is offering something for you. Two $100,000 guaranteed Pick Fours begin in races four and nine. Superfectas are available in nearly every race, and you can wager on either bet for as little as 20 cents. The card also presents a rolling Pick Three commencing with the first race.
