17 nominees for Delaware Cap


Defending champion Unbridled Belle heads a group of 17 older fillies and mares nominated to the $1 million Delaware Handicap on July 13 at Delaware Park.

Unbridled Belle, trained by Todd Pletcher, will be seeking to become the first horse to win back-to-back runnings of the Grade 2, 1 1/4-mile Delaware Handicap since Nastique in 1998 and 1999.

Weights for the race will be assigned Saturday and entries drawn Tuesday.

Graded stakes winners Shes All Eltish and Acoma top 17 3-year-old fillies nominated to the Grade 2, $500,000 Delaware Oaks on July 12. Entries for the 1 1/16-mile Oaks will be drawn Monday, two days after weight assignments are released.

Shes All Eltish, based in Florida with trainer Marty Wolfson, won the Grade 2 Bonnie Miss at Gulfstream. Acoma is part of trainer David Carroll's string at Churchill Downs, where she won the Grade 3 Dogwood in May.
