$160K carryover Sunday at Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. – The 2006 racing year in California will end on Sunday with a pick six carryover of $160,453 at Santa Anita. The bet was too tricky for bettors on Saturday, a day that featured two longshot winners in the pick six.

Sunday's pick six covers the fourth through ninth races on a program that begins at 12:30 p.m. Pacific.

Five of the six races in the pick six have at least 10 runners. Two of the races are stakes – the Blue Norther Stakes for 2-year-old fillies over a mile on turf is the sixth race and the San Gabriel Handicap over 1 1/8 miles on turf is the eighth race.

The Blue Norther has 10 entrants following the scratch of Kimmy Potter and Lady Hikaru. Valbenny and Good Mood will lead the betting.

The Grade 2 San Gabriel Handicap has the smallest field of the pick six races, with eight entrants. King's Drama is the 9-5 morning-line favorite, a slight choice over Hendrix.

The fourth race, the first leg of the pick six, is one of the trickier races in the series. It has 12 runners, led by Celtic Fable.

The fifth race is a starter allowance over seven furlongs that drew a field of 10.

The seventh race is an optional claimer over 6 1/2 furlongs that has 10 runners.

The last race is for maiden claimers over six furlongs. Heavenly House, Rapid Silver, Byrnes and Piratesdragon were scratched, leaving a field of 12.
