$140K filly tops Texas yearling sale

The $140,000 bid for City at Peace, a Louisiana-bred filly by Include, was the top price at the Fasig-Tipton Texas summer yearling sale, which concluded a two-day run Tuesday at Lone Star Park.

She sold on Monday to Dapple Bloodstock, which purchased the filly from agent Elysian Bloodstock.

"She was absolutely gorgeous," Mike Akers, chairman of Dapple Bloodstock, said Monday. "A big, scopey filly; stood over a lot of ground. I thought she was the best horse here, and hopefully it turns out that way."

City at Peace is to be shipped to Ocala, Fla.

"Every year, Dapple Bloodstock, with Wavertree in Ocala, we combine forces to buy a block of yearlings," said Akers. "We'll buy 20, 25, and get them ready to go and spread them out in the various 2-year-old sales. We'll add her to our group."

City at Peace is from the second crop of Include, a Grade 1 winner of $1.6 million. She is out of the unraced Carson City mare City Hideaway and is a half-sister to Robbeau, who was stakes-placed at 2 and has earned $108,534.

The average lot at the sale sold for $11,871, up from last year's average of $10,325. Fasig-Tipton reported that 272 horses sold this year for total receipts of $3,228,900. Last year, 323 yearlings sold at the corresponding sale for $3,335,100.
