$109,125 pick six carryover for Sunday’s card

ARCADIA, Calif. – There is a pick six carryover of $109,125 for Sunday’s program at Santa Anita.

The sequence was so difficult Saturday that the carryover was announced after the 10th of 11 races, following an upset win by Proud Boss ($50.80). At that point, there was one race remaining in the pick six.

Sunday’s pick six covers the fourth through ninth races on a program that begins at 1 p.m. Pacific. The first pick six race has a post time of 2:32 p.m.

There was only one early scratch on Saturday for Sunday’s program. In the eighth race, the Crystal Water Stakes for California-breds over a mile on turf, John Scott will not run, leaving a field of eight.

Ethnic Dance, winner of a division of the Grade 2 Del Mar Derby last summer, makes his 2014 debut in the Crystal Water and is the 5-2 favorite on the morning line.

The pick six begins with an optional claimer on the hillside turf course. The fifth race is a maiden race for California-breds over six furlongs, followed by a starter handicap over a mile on turf.

The seventh race is a $25,000 claimer for 3-year-olds over seven furlongs. After the Crystal Water Stakes, the final race of the day is a $20,000 claimer for maidens over six furlongs.

Field sizes are not particularly large for the pick six races, with 7, 8, 8, 8, 8, and 10 runners entered.
