NEW ORLEANS - Saturday's Louisiana Champions Day at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots is a betting bonanza, with 141 horses entered for 13 races, 11 of which are stakes worth $1.1 million for the top Louisiana-breds in training. First post is 12:10 p.m. CST.

The featured $150,000 Classic is once again headed by Star Guitar, one of the great Louisiana-breds of all time, attempting to win a Louisiana Champions Day race for a record fourth consecutive year. The defending winner of the Classic also won the Sprint in 2008 and the Juvenile in 2007.

Also looking for a record-setting fourth Champions Day win is Superior Storm, the two-time defending Ladies champion who also won the Lassie as a 2-year-old.

A pair of juvenile stakes pose potentially lucrative handicapping puzzles, with large fields of talented youngsters battling to establish themselves as the top Bayou-bred 2-year-olds of their gender.

Three $100,000 stakes for American Quarter Horses start the day. The first Thoroughbred stakes of the afternoon, the $50,000 Starter Handicap, is the fifth race at 2:07 p.m. CST.

A mind-blowing Pick Four on the last four races - the Juvenile (14 entrants), the Sprint (10 entrants), the Ladies Sprint (15 entrants) and a wide-open maiden special weight (14 entrants) - begins on Race 10 at 4:43 p.m. CST.
