Daily Racing Form Expands Coverage in Mid-Atlantic States;
Tracks Join Forces to Highlight the Region’s Racing

New York, NY (March 19, 2013) Daily Racing Form announced it has expanded its weekly coverage of the Mid-Atlantic racetracks.

The Thoroughbred operations in the region include Charles Town (Charles Town, WV), Colonial Downs (New Kent, VA), Delaware Park (Wilmington, DE), Laurel Park (Laurel, MD), PARX (Bensalem, PA), Penn National (Grantville, PA), and Pimlico Race Course (Baltimore, MD). Coverage of these tracks will be included in the special Mid-Atlantic feature that will appear nationally in printed editions every Thursday. The circuit races year-round and the majority of its tracks have rich purse structures due to the introduction of casino gaming.

Eclipse Award-winning journalist Dick Jerardi, lead horse racing writer with The Philadelphia Daily News and longtime contributor to Daily Racing Form, will be the featured writer each week. Jerardi has reported on every Triple Crown race of the past 25 years and every Breeders' Cup race since 1986.

DRF.com will also provide video reporting each Thursday evening, titled "Mid-Atlantic Report" which includes handicapping video and a dedicated event page which takes a look at the upcoming weekend's races and special events. This coverage will include interviews with trainers, jockeys, owners, and track management to bring a local flavor. Contributing handicapper Brad Thomas and DRF senior editor of premium content Kenny Peck will produce these weekly segments. This past weekend's page is live at http://www.drf.com/events/mid-atlantic-saturday-preview.

"We are pleased to put together a consortium of tracks to accomplish our expanded coverage," said Phil O'Hara, DRF's executive director of racetrack development. “The spirit of partnership by the tracks in this region was encouraging to us and we were confident that we could help achieve their goals by using all the media assets in the DRF arsenal.” O'Hara continued, "This dedicated coverage across all platforms is an excellent example of how Daily Racing Form intends to expand its coverage in the years ahead."

Speaking on behalf of the Mid-Atlantic tracks Chris McErlean, V.P. of Racing for Penn National Gaming, Inc said, "This region offers the highest concentration of racing on a year-round basis. Following several conversations and brainstorming sessions with track executives from the region we felt Daily Racing Form listened to our needs and responded with a comprehensive program which will provide great exposure of Mid-Atlantic racing to the national simulcast market."
