Pick Six Analysis by Dave Litfin
Fourth Race
1. Azasecret 2. Thetrainwasgone 3. Awesome Island
AZASECRET has blown clear leads in each of three dirt attempts, the latest at odds just south of 2-5, and now gets blinkers, as do two of the viable alternatives; in front as far as she goes...which so far has been about 5 1/2 furlongs. THETRAINWASGONE broke from post 13 and beat seven rivals when sixth of 13 in last dirt start at Saratoga; special-weight dropdown makes first dirt start in blinkers. AWESOME ISLAND and ONE PRETTY CAT wear the "rouge's badge" for the first time and have money chances vs. this crew.
Fifth Race
1. Wave Theory 2. Atlantic Dream 3. Judy G
WAVE THEORY was a bit green through stretch when beaten a neck in debut by Summer of Fun, the eventual third-place finisher in Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf; back with maidens after hitting best stride late in Miss Grillo behind stablemate and BCJFT runner-up Watsdachances. ATLANTIC DREAM only 3 1/2 lengths back of stablemate Wave Theory in Miss Grillo; been on yielding turf twice so far. JUDY G and WAR RELIC look next-best among the experienced turfers, but are stuck on the AE list for live outfits.
Sixth Race
1. Lisalisalee 2. Carla Sweetrevenge 3. China Gold
LISALISALEE gets off the rail after encouraging debut in mud when third and beaten a half-length by more experienced CARLA SWEETREVENGE; can turn tables making first start on home grounds for red-hot trainer. CHINA GOLD brought 23 times sire Majestic Warrior's stud fee at top-class March sale; dam has produced the good sprinters Game Token and La Concerto, who have each banked in neighborhood of $250k.
Seventh Race
1. Shakeira 2. Geisha Gal 3. Seanchai
SHAKEIRA has been out of the exacta twice the past two years, once when beaten a head for all the money in a blanket photo, and the second time when she got rolling too late at a distance shorter than preferred; comes off peak figures on firm, good and yielding turf. GEISHA GSEANCHAIightly raced, well connected and improving with each start; tackles next available condition after beating maidens decisively off a 55-day break. The well-traveled SEANCHA has been on six different turf courses in seven starts; sharp try vs. graded stakes-placed Zultanite first out for T. Pletcher, versatile in terms of pace placement.
Eighth Race
1. Rigby 2. Candyman E 3. Sinai
File this away as an exceptionally competitive heat that is likely to develop into a key race. RIGBY has put up 90+ figures in four of five starts since claimed and paired with Ramon Dominguez, the lone misfire on sealed wet track; handled big field that included recent stakes winner Sage Valley at the Spa. CANDYMAN E has been away since mid-winter Toboggan, but trainer 18 for 40 (45%) with long layoffs in 2011-12, and off to 5-for-7 start at the meet; won first four for this barn including DeFrancis. SINAI chased 2-1 favorite around a speed-favoring sloppy track in local bow; dirt sprint prior to that was Grade 2 San Vicente vs. The Factor.
Ninth Race
1. Fast and Strong 2. It's Your Dime 3. Belongs to Dixie
FAST AND STRONG has run four virtually identical figures on firm and good turf at distances ranging from six furlongs to 1 1/16 miles, any of which seem good enough to finally get through the maiden ranks in Sunday's nightcap; likely to go favored for a fourth straight time. IT'S YOUR DIME stretches out off a trainer change to Linda Rice, and breaks from a favorable inside post; liable to take this group a long way on the lead. BELONGS TO DIXIE was along for second when tried on this course late last year; sparingly raced this season, but last turf race Aug. 30 was best yet numbers-wise. SCIENZIATO improved first time going long, and now gets blinkers; in the mix with a few more lengths of development.
