Shark City

Trainer: Ed Moger, Jr.
Last Race: Del Mar Aug 27, 8th
Finish: 5th by 2

This first-time starter was in a tough spot most of maiden-claiming sprint. He pulled early, ran up on heels of rivals into turn, was never comfortable, ran evenly to the wire. He should improve next time, and he does have more speed than he showed.

General Dan

Trainer: Gary Stute
Last Race: Del Mar Aug 27, 6th
Finish: 4th by 2

This 3-year-old ran much better than looked in turf allowance. Void of speed, still last into the lane, finished fast and galloped out super past the wire. Looks like a live contender for the $100,000 Pomona Derby on Sept. 20 at Fairplex Park.

Majormotionpicture

Trainer: Michael Machowsky
Last Race: Del Mar Aug 24, 4th
Finish: 1st by 3/4

This 2-year-old colt overcame the inside post to win his debut like a potential stakes winner. Off slow, in a tight spot inside, made the lead too early, but held off the closers to win more impressively than the modest final time. Norfolk Stakes is up next.

Century Park

Trainer: Bob Baffert
Last Race: Del Mar Aug 20, 5th
Finish: 2nd by Neck

This second-time starter missed by a neck after losing ground three-wide in turf route. She will be a short price in the next grass route for 2-year-old maiden fillies.

Smudgeledo

Trainer: Brian Koriner
Last Race: Del Mar Aug 22, 5th
Finish: 1st by 1-1/4

This bottom-level claimer is at the top of his game, and blitzed $10,000 claimers in fast time like he can do it again wherever he shows up.

Hot n' Dusty

Trainer: Barry Abrams
Last Race: Del Mar Aug 23, 9th
Finish: 5th by 2-3/4

This second-time starter got buried in traffic on the turn, was stuck with nowhere to run, found a seam too late, and finished with run. The daughter of Unusual Heat can win next time.

She Floats (IRE)

Trainer: John Sadler
Last Race: Del Mar Aug 20, 6th
Finish: 1st by 1-1/4

Improving filly from Europe lost ground thorughout but crushed maiden-40 starter allowance fillies without being asked for her best. She can win again in a N1X.

Rush Rush

Trainer: Michael Machowsky
Last Race: Del Mar Aug 20, 7th
Finish: 6th by 7-1/4

This late-runner got stuck in traffic, finished well, and galloped out super in restricted stakes race. Ran better than it looks.

Midshipman

Trainer: Bob Baffert
Last Race: Del Mar Aug 17, 6th
Finish: 1st by 1-1/4

This first-time starter scored an impressive debut racing five and one-half furlongs, and he acts like he wants to run farther. Up the ladder, next stop stakes.

Casino Gold

Trainer: Bob Baffert
Last Race: Del Mar Aug 16, 6th
Finish: 2nd by 2-1/2

This 2-year-old first-time starter sired by Proud Citizen ran well and finished five and one-half lengths cleard of third in strong race won by the racing-experienced favorite. Should not miss next time.
