Here are the lifetime past performances of the highest and lowest Beyer stakes performers:
Can I get some feed back for all of ya...I am hanicaping Sat at Fairgrounds.I played there Jan 10 card. A lot of the horses I played on the 10th are running back on Sat. None of them won on the Jan 10 card and alot of them ran up the track with ok trips nothing bad. When do you not play them or play them back again?? Its hard for me to get off a horse I last played since I liked them last time. I would love some opinions from the great hanicapping minds on this blog...
I admire your loyalty to your previous selections, but I would take each race as an entirely new experience. If a horse disappointed you in the past without excuse, it's probably best to forget about him unless he really fits the conditions of the race from a speed and pace standpoint. You may have liked the horse in a previous start because he was the projected lone speed, or had a dominant speed figure edge. Things may be different in this race. It's easy to become married to our selections, but it may be more beneficial to "one-and-done" them. Nownownow was a good play at 18-1 a couple of weeks ago. He wasn't as attractive at 5-1 over the weekend.
Would DRF consider putting together a Past Performances PDF of all the horses nominated to the 2009 Triple Crown after the running of the Belmont Stakes? This way, we would have the PP's for every horse who was at least nominated for the Triple Crown and what ended up happening with each one.
We'll be publishing the past performances for all Kentucky Derby nominees later this week for the first Derby Future Wager, and it may be updated online throughout the road to the Derby. I'm not sure about after the race, but at least you'd have the nominees, and could then follow your favorites with the DRF Watch alerts.
Dan-I read somewhere (on the Derby blog site-from a blogger) that Dontavorium is not being pointed to the Derby. Have you heard that?
It looks as if he's headed to Europe for now, but it's too early to rule him out completely as a Triple Crown candidate. Although not nominated to the Derby as of yet, he is a gelding, and thus ineligible to run in the English classics. Perhaps, he'll be pointed to the automatic berth race at Kempton in the Spring.
Congrats to chicago gerry for earning the highest money total in last week's HandiGambling exercise. He selected Gulfstream Park's eighth race on Wednesday for HandiGambling 120. Remember that you have a mythical $100 with which to wager on the race, and the entrant with the highest money total will receive a "Monthly Enhanced 60-Card Past Performance Plan." Here are the past performances:
Some nice picks from our posters this week.
Talk to you soon,
will old fashioned & friesan fire have to run as an entry in the kentucky derby due to common ownership?
HG 120 I'll take a shot against Stevil with Southern Terminus. $50 win on #5 $20 exacta box #3 with #5 $1 trifecta 3,5/2,4,6,8/3,5 $2 left for coffee Also wanted to mention #2 City Spirit looks like an overlay in the 7th at Aqu. I think the #1 and #5 are both vulnerable. I might even chuck them both out and play a 2,3,7 ex/tri box. It's the only race I plan on playing tommorow, so why not go for it? Anyone have an opinion on Vineyard Haven for thursday in Dubai. I think he'll be an underlay in the North American pools. So I'm thinking about taking a shot against with Rocks Off, the Mike de Kock horse mentioned in the DRF story about the race.
HG 120: $1spr 9/3,4,6,8 =$24.00 $4tri 9/3,4,6 =$24.00 $40.00 win 9 =$40.00 $12.00 ex 3/9 =$12.00 Total $100.00 BigEasyBigChok
Buffalo Joe, I think billG is a 3 time winner. bill, if you are out there, maybe you can verify. At any rate, my lucky number appears to be 9. I did win HG 109 and 119, so you can at least join me:). I have always said, it is amazing what dumb luck will get you. Buffalo Joe, of the jockeys you listed the one jockey that I did not see that I would have liked to have seen, is Sandy Hawley, because you have spoken highly of him in the past. I guess my favorite riders from the recent past were Bailey, Day, and Shane Sellers. I do like a lot of the current riders.
HG 120 $80 TRI 3-4-7 $20 TRI 3-7-4
HG 120 #4 Sir Henry 2 races stand out for me the Honorglide where he went 5th to 1st in one call making up 10 lengths, and the first with the new barn going fast early. This will be his 10th start on dirt lifetime. Looked like he had a future in July. 3rd with Mc Peek will get overlooked with a 1 for 20 lifetime win %. Has been here 2 months with a work after last. #7 has MOST $$$ per start at 15:1 blinkers on say will be close today. Raced for 2.15 million 6-1 to 8-3. 7/13 race was key on dirt. #9 last on dirt was awesome at CRC. Put me down for a 10$ superfecta #3479, #3497,#7349,#3749,#4379,#4397,#7394,#3794. Also .10 super #3478,34789,34789,3456789. Have .80 cents to borrow if anybody wants.
HG 120 $70 win 8.... $20 ex 8-3.... $10 tri 8-3-4.... Pegasian sets up nicely...stalk and pounce on Stevil and Forty Zip who I think Lopez will send and hope the horse gets brave....tough to bet against the fave (especially against this bunch), but was underwhelmed when I watched him at the SPA last summer.
HG120 FIELD: #1 He's the Commander: has the golden rail so won't be 101/1 again, but appears overmatched. Will be lucky to hit bottom of SUPER again. 3,4 #3 Stevil: and Sr. Henry flattered by Discreet Treasure next out win, likely winner, but...doesn't win when likely! KEY #4 Sr. Henry: always a bridesmaid, not sold on dirt ability. 2,3,4 #5 Southern Terminus: fits my criteria of a "live horse"! KEY #6 Forty Zip: will be a play against for me (except on the bottom of the SUPER.) 4 #7 East End Tap: intriguing closer gets blinkers (didn't help either time used before.) 2,3,4 #8 Pegasian: gets blinkers for the 1st-time, will include underneath. 3,4 #9 Chinsegut Bay: new horse since trainer switch, ?better on turf, include underneath. 2,3,4 $100 WAGER: $1SUPER #3,5/3,5/1,4,7,8,9/1,4,6,7,8,9 = $50 $0.90SUPER #3,5/4,7,9/3,5/1,4,6,7,8,9 = $27 $0.90SUPER #3,5/4,7,9/1,4,7,8,9/3,5 =$21.60 $1.40 TIP Good luck to all HandiGamblers!!
Chicago Gerry, East End Tap did not run at Finger Lakes last July. He ran at Fort Erie in the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown ($500,000 purse) - for what it's worth.
Laura, Sorry to hear about your Dad's "mini-stroke". Hope he's OK. It looks like you have an awful lot on your plate right now. But, you are a good daughter! Annie
