Sunday Silence info, Zenyatta's top Beyers, Lots of pp requests
Let's get to your questions.
Hi Dan , Could you please post the past performances for Sunday Silence and his mother Wishingwell , also any info about Wishingwell - I heard Sunday Silence was the only foal out of 7 births which survived. Are there any horses out of Sunday Silence ?
The past performances for Sunday Silence and Wishing Well are available at the bottom of this blog post.
Wishing Well, a daughter of Understanding, was foaled in 1975 and would go on win six stakes races in Southern California. She prevailed in the Grade 2 Gamely, Grade 3 Wilshire, the listed Convenience Stakes (twice), the listed Autumn Days Handicap, and the listed Las Cienegas Handicap. She also placed in seven other stakes races (three graded).
Here is Wishing Well's produce record:
1983: Foal died
1984: Dead Twins
1986: Sunday Silence (see past performances below)
1988: Rebel Alliance (gelding, by Skywalker) - 32-3-6-1, $31,813
1990: Sunday's Sis (filly, by Halo) - 13-1-1-2, $37,800
1991: Penny Up (filly, by Halo) - Unraced
1992: Thisis Mylifestyle (filly, by Halo) - 5-1-0-0, $117,683 (raced in Japan)
1993: No Report
1994: Dead Foal
1996: Sunday Wish (Ire) (filly, by Sadler's Wells) - Unraced
Sunday Silence was exported to Japan shortly after his racing career ended and is generally regarded as the greatest stallion in the history of Japanese breeding. He has sired many champions in Japan and his sons are now topping the charts there as well.
I'd love to see the PPs of Singular Vision, who loved the Santa Anita surface and was last seen years ago plying his trade in Northern California in the low claiming ranks. I'd love to see what once was the model for the "hard knocking claimer".
Singular Vision won the restricted Don B. Stakes at two at Bay Meadows, and placed in two other restricted stakes races as a juvenile. He's a full brother to Warning Label, the winner of the restricted c.H.B.P.A. Dinner Handicap at Bay Meadows (246K in earnings). Another full sister, Soap Opera Queen, was stakes-placed in the restricted Courtship Stakes at two at Bay Meadows. Singular Vision's past performances are available at the bottom of this blog post.
Could you give me the past performances for Secreatariat in a PdF form and list all the Grade 1 winners like you did for Zenyatta and Rachael Alexandra please ??
Secretariat's past performances are available at the bottom of this blog post. I won't be able to list the Grade 1 winners he's beaten as I don't have access to the complete records of all the horses he defeated.
Thanks for trying to answer my questions!!
1) So, you can search jockey stats pre and post certain dates? Gihua lost his bug 10/3/10 (that was his first day without a weight allowance
Jockey Johnny Gihua is 13-2-2-2 (15%, $2.17 ROI) since losing the bug. Lifetime, he is 170-13-15-11, 7%, $2.13 ROI.
Royal harmony is the Oh bred Ryan wanted pp's for
My past performance database doesn't go that far back so I can't provide his lifetime past performances. Royal Harmony, a foal of 1964, compiled a remarkable record of 105-38-30-15 with earnings of $587,164. He won 22 stakes races and placed in 27 more. A son of Royal Note, Royal Harmony is the only foal from the Destino mare, Desatino.
A question: under the Handicapping Tab, and then under DRF Plus, the site mentions "Additional 2 year old coverage from Dan Illman"-lots of potential interesting data. Where can I find on the site the actual data referenced?
I'm pretty sure that references the "Debut Reports," which I badgered management to include on the site several years ago. I used to keep those records by hand so I have to admit that there were some selfish motives behind that request.
Hi Dan. As Argentinean I'd like to have the PPs of Paseana and Bayakoa, great mares. Thank You.
They certainly were top mares. You can access their pp's at the bottom of this blog posting.
Didn't Zenyatta get a BSF 112 in last years BC Classic?
Zenyatta received a 112 for the 2009 BC Classic. Her other top Beyers are the 108's she earned in the 2008 Clement Hirsch and 2008 Lady's Secret.
dan, thanks 4 the pp's!! i have more requests my 1st horse i ever won on & the name is whiskey trip with my pops @ santa rosa fair. the other's are retsina leader, stan's bower & charlie's note who was the shoe's last ride @ GGF. This brings back great memories & thanks again!!!
You can download what I have for those runners at the bottom of this blog posting.
Capitano followed that race with a 2nd in the Best Pal at 10 to 1 and then another 2nd in the Norfolk at 11 to 1 before running 6th in the BC Juvenile. He went on to be a useful horse on both dirt and turf compiling a record of 36-7-9-4 while winning some minor stakes. He won his last race in July of 2008 at Penn National. Maybe I could talk Dan into posting his lifetime PPs. Thanks for helping me bring back that memory.
Capitano's past performances are at the bottom of the blog.
Now, Jim Papsidero trained King Ralph in the 80's. Unfortunately he passed on since but his brother Ralph is a client of mine here in Richmond VA. Would the pp's be available for King Ralph? Would be greatly appreciated.
King Ralph's past performances are available at the bottom of this blog posting.

Congrats to dale for finishing first in last week's HandiGambling exercise. He chooses Thursday's Sycamore Stakes at Keeneland for this week's race.
Remember that you have a mythical $100 with which to wager on the race, and the entrant with the highest money total will receive a "Monthly Enhanced 60-Card Past Performance Plan." Anyone going over the $100 limit will be disqualified. Please post your plays and analysis to the blog In the event of a tie, the earliest post gets first preference. One entry per person please. I reserve the right to approve or deny any entries.
***PAST PERFORMANCES ARE AVAILABLE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS BLOG POST***
I know that there is a time issue for some of you, but let's remember why we began the HandiGambling races in the first place. The goal was to share ideas on why we like these horses, and why we're betting them the way we are. I'm not asking for a novel, but if you could spare a sentence or two outlining your handicapping angles, and thought processes about wagering, it would be appreciated.
Best of luck to all.

Hi Dan, I recently requested past performances for Sunday Silence and wishingwell - the one for Sunday Silence was there but not the one for Wishingwell. Could you check and see if it is available? Thanks Michael
$100 Exacta 7/3 Book It.
2nd try at this. Will keep it simple this week. Play the best two in a exacta. $100 exacta 7-6 = $100 Musketier won here at this dist last time out and shows a bullet work back at WO Sept 26. Light works after that to keep him sharp.
HG Sycamore I am also leaning toward Musketier (7) in this race for many of the reasons already mentioned. Behind that one, most of the horses I'm including have shown an affinity for the KEE turf and/or distance. $60 win Musketier (7) $2 tri key 7 w/ 3,4,5,8,11 w/ 3,4,5,8,11 Good luck
Lot of Old-Timers in this. Maybe Brass Hat is a step slower. Using Musketier # 7 with Tajaaweed , the bomb , who returns to grass where he faced better in prior. $40 Exacta Box : 7/11 $10 Exacta : 11/6 $5 Trifectas : 7-11-6 & 7-6-11
HGSycamore I beleive # 9 has scratched from the race ,so here are my picks: fifty cent superfecta's 6,7,11/6,7,11/2,5,8,11,12/2,5,8,11,12 $6 Trifecta's 6,7/6,7/11 $15 exacta's 6,7/11
HG Sycamore: A few eliminations from the top spot on my tickets: 1-Southern Anthem has yet to try the distance and is off since 7/17 while stepping way up. 3-Lignon’s Hero appears out classed. 4-Yates Black Cat has not run a competitive Beyer (97) since January. Last 2 were very slow. 5-Brass Hat will be over bet. He has 1 win in 2 years for his 6% trainer. 8-Solitaire has OK connections, but his best Beyer of 91 would not win this 10-Your Round is 2 for 24 lifetime and too slow for this bunch. 12-Rezif: I’ll take a stand against him. Won’t run back to the 95 Beyer from 9-11 on Yielding turf. 13-Lemnade Kid has a 7% trainer. 14-Leipzig is way too slow Contenders: 2-Free Fighter has a couple of Grade 3 wins. His last did not impress. 6-Presious Passion appears dangerous as lone speed. Been disappointing since dismal Dubai effort. 7-Musketier has top connections. Will need firm surface and ability to pass the lone speed. 11-Tajaaweed is good enough based on Racing Post numbers, but has not shown it in the USA. I will key the 2 based on good connections and overlay based on poor last race on yielding turf. $50 to Win on #2 $10 Exacta 2 over 6, 7, 11 = $30 $20 Exacta 6 over 2
HANDIGAMBLING For Sycamore. First time starter here. Hope this is right. I love cats and the way Yate's Black cat closes. Kent D. will either win or be off the board with him. 4 over 2-5-7-8 25 exacta = $100
Steve T: Don't overlook the value offered by Hennessy & Lemon Drop Kid as turf sires. HG Sycamore: $3 Tri Box 4,7, 13; $3 Tri PW 4,7/4,7/1,2,5,6,11,12,13; $20 Ex Box 4, 7. 4 with Kent 3rd off layoff, and finished a close 3rd in this race last year; 7 has been discussed by nearly everyone, and 13 is my Lemon Drop Kid special. Congratulations Dale, and good luck everyone. dessate not?
eric t.; No, I knew what you meant, so no worries there. I just wanted to make the point that I enthusiastically involve my 11 year old son in this game! CAPTCHA: "insomniis" and "crobby" I didn't know CAPTCHA could spell with an english accent!
