Saratoga: Zito wins one & loses one

After 24 straight losses to start the meet, Nick Zito got off the duck with Mountain Town (5th, $16.40), a Marylou Whitney homebred that came through on the rail to win his debut under apprentice Frederic Lenclud.

However, Mountain Town, a 2-year-old colt by Cape Town, was claimed out of the race for $75,000 by Rick Dutrow Jr. on behalf of Paul Pompa Jr.

Eighth Avenue closed fastest of all to finish second.

Pretty Mr. D unseated Miguel Mena in the post parade and ran off, becoming the 24th late scratch in 24 days.
