Saratoga: Fast & firm

Some clouds have moved in after a sunny morning, but we're fast and firm for Day #38, with a brisk tailwind down the backstretch that has blown away the heat and humidity that hung around all week.

There are four stakes on an 11-race card highlighted by the Forego (9th) and the Woodward (10th), a pair of Grade 1 events that are the second and third legs of a $500k guaranteed pick-4. Quality Road will be the shortest price of the day in the Woodward. The Godolphin entry of Vineyard Haven and Girolamo heads the Forego.

The Lena Spencer (1st) and the Addison Mallery (7th) are $70,000 filly-and-mare overnight turf stakes. Rose Catherine heads the 5 1/2-furlong Lena Spencer; My Princess Jess rates a slight edge over Fantasia in the one-mile Addison Mallery.
