Email

The 112-1 longshot Chito Mono collapsed after Sunday's fifth race and was down with an apparent case of heat exhaustion for approximately 10 minutes before rising to his feet.

Chito Mono finished a well-beaten last and was eased in the one-mile race for $20,000 claiming maidens. He fell about 100 yards after the wire, unseating jockey Melvin Perez, who jumped clear. Chito Mono has made four starts, but has not been competitive.

The race was won by Trueno $(6.20), who won in his 22nd start.
