Santa Anita: The unstoppable Marty Jones

Email

Trainer Marty Jones won his sixth stakes of the winter-spring meeting with Unzip Me in Sunday's Las Cienegas Handicap. The filly scooted away from six rivals in early stretch to win the hillside turf race by 1 1-4 lengths.

Gotta Have Her, third in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint in her last start last November, could only finish third. She stumbled at the start and finished two lengths behind the winner. Gotta Have Her should benefit from the start, and is likely to start in races around two turns during the upcoming Hollywood Park spring-summer meeting.

Jones has won six stakes at the meeting, two fewer than leader Bob Baffert. Jones said he has one more stakes runner at the meeting, in Cherokee Heaven in Saturday's San Simeon Handicap on the hillside turf course.
